Mountaineering is very popular in Taiwan, and mountains over 3,000 meters high are the goal of many mountaineering enthusiasts. In order to promote mountaineering activities, 100 representative mountains were selected and called the "Taiwan 100 Peaks", which include some peaks in the Central Mountain Range, Xueshan Mountain Range, and Yushan Mountain Range.
Lidao Village, Haiduan Township, Taitung County, southeast of Taiwan, is located on the southeast side of Sancha Mountain, 7 kilometers away from the east side of Xiangyang Mountain. It is also known as "Sancha Pond" or "Angel's Tears". It is the second highest lake in Taiwan after Xueshan Cuichi. The clear lake reflects the blue sky, unfathomable, and as quiet as a fairyland on earth.
Route and itinerary planning
Traditional route (entering and exiting Xiangyang):
The more common route is usually arranged for three days and two nights, and you can stay at Xiangyang Mountain House or Jiaming Lake Refuge Mountain House.
Jimaos to Jiaming Lake:
This route requires camping throughout the journey, which is suitable for climbers who have overnight experience and want to experience different scenery.
Before going to Jiaming Lake, you must go to the Xiangyang Police Station in Xiangyang National Forest Recreation Area to complete the climbing procedures to ensure your own safety.

After leaving Xiangyang Forest Amusement Park, you will pass Jiaming Lake Trailhead, Xiangyang Mountain House, Black Water Pond, Yushan Juniper, Xiangyang Big Collapse Wall, Xiangyang Mountain, Jiaming Lake Intersection, Xiangyang Mountain Triangle Point, Yushan Azalea, Sancha Mountain, Xiangyang Mountain Fork Road, Sancha Mountain, Jiaming Lake Fork Road, Sancha Mountain Triangle Point, Sancha Mountain, Jiaming Lake, Xinkang Mountain Fork Road, and finally arrive at Jiaming Lake. This hiking trip takes about three days. Xiangyang Mountain House, Jiaming Lake House and Jiaming Lake House Campground are places to stay on this mountain.

The North Peak of Xiangyang Mountain, with an elevation of 3458m, is located on the second section of the South Mountain. It is one of the 275 high mountains in Taiwan. The peak is located in the Yushan National Park area.
As the altitude rises along the way, the coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forest turns into coniferous forest, and the coniferous forest turns into alpine grassland. At night, there is a starry sky, and the scenery changes and interweaves, which is wonderful.

The grassland is vast and boundless, and Jiaming Lake is like a stunning sapphire embedded in the endless green velvet, dazzling and charming. The forests and grasslands near Jiaming Lake are also where sambar deer live. If you are lucky, you may have the opportunity to play with sambar deer up close. Although the journey is difficult and physically demanding, such a moving scenery is still not something you can give up easily.
