The live-action Tomb Raider series will begin filming in 2026

Amazon Prime Video is producing a live-action Tomb Raider series, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge of "The Dirty Girl" fame serving as writer and executive producer. Sophie Turner of "Game of Thrones" has been confirmed to star as Laura Kafte, with the goal of creating a cross-media Tomb Raider universe. The series will be a co-production between Amazon MGM and Crystal Dynamics, with filming scheduled to begin in January 2026.
Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus) is the latest addition to the cast of live-action Tomb Raider series, sources tell Deadline.
Jason Isaac is a veteran actor best known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series. He recently received his first Emmy nomination for his performance in the third season of The White Lotus, receiving widespread acclaim for his acting.
The lead role of Lara will be played by Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones, while Sigourney Weaver from Alien will play a character named Wallac. British actor Martin Bobb-Semple will also appear in a recurring role.
Phoebe Wallerbridge said in a statement, "Everyone on the team is passionately in love with Laura; they're all just as rebellious, brave, and funny as she is." Sophie Turner also said she was "incredibly excited." Before her, Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander had both portrayed Laura in films.
